14 Heartwarming Cat Rescue Stories

Our members in the Viral Cats Group have shared some beautiful heartwarming stories about their rescue/adopted cats, here are a few.

“Rescued this little guy from the concrete center median of a four lane highway early this morning. I thought at first he had been run over, but was just hunkered down because of all the traffic going by. Did a U turn and thankfully he didn’t try to run or bite. Just gave me a little rescue me cry out. A little skint place on his face, but otherwise healthy. Vet checked and did not find a chip. Rear claws worn down to a nub from his highway experience. Will not let me out of his sight now. Oh well… #8 to the clan…”

“This is my rescue kitten, Magnolia Rose. Someone had dumped her by the lake. The vet said she was about 12-14 weeks old, still had all her baby teeth and was pregnant ??? Her eyes were beige when I found her, but they’re getting a little blue in the middle. She’s not super lovey yet, but likes to be petted and brushed. She’s finally stopped gulping her food down and is starting to enjoy her meal times. When she talks to me, it’s a combination of a purr and a meow. It sounds like she’s meowing with a vibrato.”

“This is my Bombay rescue baby
Miss. Maya
She tries to look all big bad and fat but she’s a slim little panther.
Someone abandoned her and we think threw her out of a car.
She picked me to be hers, was only a few weeks old and deathly sick but I didn’t give up on her and she fought hard for her life.”

“Hi, My name is Max and I am a rescue. I am nearly 6 months old and love my family. When I was born my cat mother rejected me and her hooman family put me in bin. Some people saw this a called a kitten rescue organisation who helped me. I was so tiny with saws on my face. When I was still very little and now living with lots of other cats and kittens at the rescue home, not being a pretty kitten I never though a hooman would come for just me. But then one day this lady came and played with all the kittens. I liked her so I made sure I let her know. But then she left. I though I would never see her again. But later that same day, just after I had lunch she came back and this time she only played with me. Just me, I was soooo excited. Well it must have being love at first sight because she took me home with her and we have being together ever since. I love my hooman mommy and daddy and they loves me too. Now we do everything together, I even let them sleep in my big bed, with me in the middle. Xx”

I’ve adopted a 2 yr old rescue kitty. She was taken from a horder mess so she has been thru a lot. She is so afraid. Any suggestions on getting her to accept her new home? We have her in a quiet room to start. Then opened the door with a screen to keep her in. We are afraid we would never find her if she had the run of the house . She’s so skinny but eating. She’s the Siamese in the front. This is her adoption pic, not where she is now.

“I’m so happy to post this picture of my recently adopted furbaby ‘Pepper’. She found herself in a rescue centre after being dumped on the street. At the age of 11 there’s sadly very few people who will even consider adopting an older cat ?. I saw her picture on social media while the rescue centre tried and failed to find her original owner. I stepped forward and offered her a forever home so she didn’t even go up for adoption. She is quite possibly the most loving, gentle and affectionate little lady ever. I am totally in love with her ?”

“Okay so I have 5 rescue cats but one of them in particular has my heart in a special way this is the first cat that I Ever Raised on a bottle and everything I got him when he was about a week and a half old and this cat has the biggest heart of any animal I have ever seen in my entire life he is so sweet it is enough to make you tear up and I just wanted to share our special bond with everybody for a moment because this Kitty means the world to me”

“I adopted Milo a couple of months ago. His profile stated he did not like to be picked up. When I got him out of his cage at the shelter, he clung to me as if his life depended on it. I had to wear him in a baby carrier the first day. Now he runs to me when I get home from work and begs to be picked up.

Just a reminder that shelter animals are often traumatized. How those animals act in the shelter and/or what the people who dump those animals say about them isn’t always accurate.

Give rescue animals time to adjust and time to be their true selves”

“All are rescue. Raccat came from the street where kids were slamming her against a wall. Nubby came from my grandson. They are our senior cats. Ruffin we found at an abandoned house. Vet said he needed a “friend” and it just so happened someone brought in some strays. So Callie is his “friend”. Pearla was found on the road. The last 3 are about 16 months old. Raccat just lost an eye to glaucoma.”
