# “25 years old this year and just the merest hint of silver in her shiny black coat. Meet Poppycat. She’s 25 in human years, which translates to 116 in cat years. She has very few teeth now and stays indoors for much of the time, but she still has a real spark to her loving personality and happily plays with her toy mousey. I adopted her aged 17, because I wanted to give an older black cat a loving home for the last years of their life. Her original Mummy passed away and she had a hard time of things until her Mummy’s aunt discovered her niece. When I adopted Poppy she was in a small cage in a Leicestershire barn and I felt sadness emanating from her. The aunt was a dog person, so had only provided the most basic of needs until she was adopted. Since then, she has been spoilt rotten and treated like the queen she is. She is the most loving and intelligent little cat and I’ve been truly blessed to enjoy her company for so long.”
