14 months later, Tanya and Jonathan received an call. Clive had by found by staff at a pet food factory 2 miles away, who had noticed treats had been going missing at the factory.

Homecoming: Tanya and Colin have got their pet back, a few pounds heavier

he had ballooned to almost twice his original size when he was returned to his owners.

Retail director at the company, Colin Lewis said:

I’ve been trying to catch him for weeks when I found out we had a cat living in the warehouse … It’s amazing. The warehouse is 20 thousand square foot of pet food. I think there’s been a few holes in some of the boxes.

It was a group effort to capture Clive. We got the trap from a cat rescue centre. It’s a cage – you put some food in it, then when the cat goes in there’s a pressure pad that shuts the door behind it.

Once Clive was captured, they took him to the vet where they were able to scan his microchip and find his owners! He added:

Clive only ate cat food in the factory, I think he thought he was living in a penthouse. It’s great to see…I’m happy they’re back together again.

His owner Tanya Irons said she could not believe he was so porky.

It’s amazing, he’s so big and fluffy because it’s winter. He liked to go outside a lot, but we think somebody must have been feeding him, he’s such a lovely cat.

We’re happy that Clive’s adventure ended well and he is back home with his family !
